Royce King
WHO: Royce King II was a human who lived during the Great Depression. While he wasn’t of royalty as his name might suggest, he did belong to one of the wealthiest families in town, thanks to his father owning a bank. In the books he is described as having blond hair and blue eyes, but in the movie he sports dark brown hair and has brown eyes.
ROSY RELATIONSHIP? The first time Royce spotted Rosalie was when she brought lunch to her father at his work, which happened to be one of the banks Royce’s father owned. Rosalie’s mother purposely asked her to go there knowing Royce would be there as well. Royce immediately was taken by Rosalie’s beauty and began courting her. They eventually became engaged. Rosalie liked him because of her vanity and he really only loved her for her beauty.
NOT SO FRIENDLY FRIENDS: One night Royce was hanging out with his horrible group of friends and was bragging about Rosalie’s beauty. They urged him to call her over, and of course she came. Unfortunately for her, that was a huge mistake. Royce’s friends harassed her, beat her and raped her. And if that wasn’t low enough, they left her in the street to die.
SWEET REVENGE: One really shouldn’t mess with Rosalie because she can get severely pissed off. Royce and his friends found out the hard way. After Carlisle saved Rosalie and turned her into a vampire, she exacted revenge on her abusers. She saved Royce for last so that he would know she was coming for her him. Boy, did she arrive in style. Wearing a stolen wedding dress, she killed the two guards standing outside of Royce’s locked room, and found Royce cowering inside. After hours of torture, she eventually killed him.
