Benjamin
WHO: Benjamin is described as young and boyish looking with midnight hair. He has an olive-toned pallor, and vampire red eyes that darken as he thirsts. He keeps company with his mate, Tia, and the two of them complete the Egyptian vampire coven with Amun and his mate, Kebi.
MANIPULATOR? Benjamin was turned into a vampire by the Egyptian coven leader, Amun, because of the promise of his special abilities in manipulating the elements. After all, someone who can control the elements of earth, air, fire and water, can be seen as quite the formidable opponent. Amun intended to use Benjamin’s abilities as a weapon, but Benjamin refused to be used like that. Still, he is loyal enough to Amun to stay with the coven.
DANGEROUS, BUT GOOD: Benjamin has a cheerful look about him, and that cheerfulness transfers into his personality too. He bonded quickly with the other covens and nomads who were gathered together at the Cullen’s house. In his support for the Cullens, he declared that he would side with them if the Volturi were to attack. After all, he is a confident (although careless) vampire. Nonetheless, Edward feels that Benjamin has a good head on his shoulders and has a good sense of right and wrong.
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT: While Benjamin possesses such powerful gifts, he has not completely mastered them yet. So what’s a vamp to do? Practice, of course. During training he used his powers to create geysers from the nearby river and practiced forming gusts of winds. He also moved boulders into a nearby area that he could access in case he had to fight. It’s interesting to note that although he is considered one of the most powerful vampires around, he doesn’t have any effect on the Volturi guard, Alec.
ANOTHER VOLTURI MEMBER? Amun’s fear of losing Benjamin to another coven, especially the Volturi, was not unfounded. Benjamin’s powers intrigued Aro so he invited Benjamin to be part of the Volturi guard. To Aro’s dismay, Benjamin declined.
